West Chester University of Pennsylvania Facilities Division invites applicants for the position of Groundskeeper.
The shift available is Monday through Friday:
7 AM to 3 PM.

The shops are responsible for preventative maintenance according to their expertise and keep all operating systems in good repair; make the campus a comfortable, safe, and attractive place to learn, live, work, and recreate; respond quickly to the emergency maintenance and repair needs of the campus community.

The Grounds Maintenance Department maintains 300 acres of University grounds.
Our groundskeepers, equipment operators, and supervisory staff are dedicated to providing exceptional service.
This position provides manual work in the maintenance of the University grounds including lawn, shrubbery, mulched bed, tree, hardscape, parking lot, sidewalk, step, and ramp maintenance.
The ideal candidate is professional, punctual, has an eye for detail and can follow instructions through proper communication while working with little supervision.
Responsibilities include:
Mow, seed, fertilize, clip grass, string trim, aerate, sod, spot spray, and topdress lawns Mulch, plant and transplant, weed, edge, water, fertilize, shear and prune shrubbery Snow plow, shovel and spread salt Operate riding and push lawn mowers, snow blower, chain saw and similar various hand tools and vehicles within driver's license certification Leaf removal Line fields for WCU club events and maintain edges to be level with turf Litter removal Remove litter and debris to keep storm drain grates open for roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, steps, and sidewalk ramps Empty, remove, and replace trash/recycling cans and cigarette urns as directed Clean and maintain tools, equipment, materials, and supplies Minimum Qualifications Selection Criteria:
Minimum Education & Training:
One year of experience in groundskeeping work and completion of the eighth grade OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training Must have a valid driver's license Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of groundskeeping and simple horticultural practices Knowledge of the care of lawns, flowers, trees, and common shrubs Knowledge of the potential hazards of toxic chemical pesticides and herbicides, and the safety precautions required to minimize these hazards Ability to interpret pesticide and herbicide label directions and related literature Ability to maintain and make ordinary repairs to machinery, equipment and improvements, such as walks, lanes parking places, sheds, and benches Ability to lay out and participate in planting, watering, sodding, spraying and trimming and cleaning work in lawns, gardens and walks Good physical condition to permit long hours of outdoor physical labor
Essential Functions:
This position requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting and kneeling to plant, mulch and weed beds.
Applicants must be able to carry 30 lb.
buckets of paint; handle 50 lb.
bags of fertilizer and ice melt; push a 100-lb.
mower; reach forward to trim a hedge or operate a jackhammer; shovel up to 20 lbs.
of wet snow and work outside under severe weather conditions.

o PPO - Plan from Highmark Blue Shield includes office visits for in-network at $15 copayment for the primary care physician, $25 copayment for specialists, and services at 100% with no annual deductible or coinsurance; deductible and coinsurance applied to out-of-network providers.
o HMO - Most covered services paid in full if care is coordinated by primary care physician; care not coordinated by primary care physician is not covered.
Copayments are $15 for the primary care physician and $25 for specialists.
o CDHP - Most covered services paid in full if care is provided in-network after meeting a $1,500 (single)/$3,000 family deductible.
The PEBTF contributes $1,000 (single)/$2,000 (family) per year into a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) - therefore, the out-of-pocket maximum in -network is $500 for single or $1,000 for family annually.
