Personality, varied skills and ability to learn and retain information matter more to success in our organization than does specific experience within this field, though experience is certainly an advantage.
Duties as listed below will include direct patient care (including medical testing, note-taking and assisting doctors), as well as administrative functions such as ordering supplies, preparing exam rooms, and cross-training other roles for staff coverage.

Strong computer skills are second only to very strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Front Desk duties (primary) Answer phones as needed:
this includes attending to scheduling, rescheduling, and other inquiries Check and respond to voicemails, faxes, staff email as needed Check patients in and out as needed - ensure insurance, benefits and personal data is accurate; sign appropriate forms.
Ensuring that scheduled patients' appointments are confirmed Fax/email correspondence Maintain organized and clean desk, waiting, and restroom areas Receive and ship mail/packages Create and place orders for contact lenses Preparing for the next day's patient care schedule Pulling charts and complete routing slips for the next day Ordering contact lenses daily as needed Monthly recalls Keeping all forms and supplies printed/stocked; Keeping supply shopping list updated Maintaining the cleanliness of the office - watering plants, organizing magazines, light cleaning.
Helping with hours/payroll and managing staff time-off requests Daily reconciliation and totaling deposit slips Helping to conduct staff meetings Updating pricing lists with rebates and competitor pricing Running reports to monitor outstanding contact lens and glasses orders/statuses Optical duties (secondary) Assist patients with frame selection Minor optical tasks such as nose pad replacement and dispensing lens cleaner Maintain clean optical area Ensure frames are disinfected and replaced timely on displays Assisting duties (secondary):
Perform patient work-ups and preliminary testing Perform medical testing as ordered by the Dr.
including corneal topography, scleral profilometry, visual field testing, OCT, retinal photography Maintain inventory of diagnostic contact lenses Check expiration dates and reorder to stock Train patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and disinfection techniques based on lens type Place specialty lens orders as created by the doctor Return specialty lenses to manufacturers timely to ensure credit Maintain accurate patient invoicing for specialty lens ancillary charges Disinfect trial specialty lenses after fitting appointment.
Sanitize all touch points in testing and exam rooms between each encounter.
