Mechanical Drafter II Job Mechanical Drafter II needed for a contract hire opportunity with Yoh's client located in West Chester, PA. The Big Picture - Top Skills You Should Possess:- Three to five (3 - 5) years of experience in an OEM environment - Design experience using 3D modelling - Must be proficient with Solid Edge, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office 2003/2007 (Excel, Word, and Outlook). What You'll Be Doing:- Prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other
engineering
information. - Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. - Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems. - Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment. - Position instructions and comments onto drawings. - Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components. - Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials. - Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines. What You Need to Bring to the Table:- High school diploma or GED required. - Three to five (3 - 5) years-experience in an OEM environment with significant design experience using 3D modelling for the following: - Applicable experience in the following: - Custom design of machines and specialized design of mechanical systems (eg refrigeration system layout, pressure vessel assemblies etc) - Mechanical piping systems (joining techniques welding, mechanical fastening etc) - High pressure design applications using steel pipes, stainless steel, and copper - Welded steel structures for supporting rotating machinery. - Layout and arrangement of P and ID's - General machine assembly techniques and working with manufacturing department to structure BOM's a requirement. - Must be proficient with Solid Edge, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office 2003/2007 (Excel, Word, and Outlook). - Knowledge of relevant
computer
application, such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting). - Understanding design tolerances, welding symbols, and electrical control symbols - Experience with the use of an ERP/MRP system a requirement. - Self-starter and ability to work with limited supervision - Must be detail oriented and well organized - Must be able to work in a fast paced environment - Must be willing to work overtime as required. - Knowledge of drawing systems (creation, documentation, and archiving) - Preparation of specialized documentation packages (technical manuals, customer drawing packages, equipment quotation packages etc). - Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Bonus Points!:- Pro-E experience is a plus. - Experience in Integrating components into a packaged system including valves, compressors, vessels, piping, and electrical routing a plus.
