Devereux''s Short Term Autism Intensive Residential Services Program (STAIRS) is seeking a Full Time Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Counselor. STAIRS is a short-term psychosocial rehabilitation for children who have an autism spectrum disorder who have not responded to traditional mental health services due to cognitive limitations and/or medical complexities. The ABA Counselor will provide assistance to the Special Education Teacher and Treatment Manager in planning and implementing educational and behavioral programs for individuals with Autism.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The ABA Counselor will assist in establishing a classroom environment that is conductive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behavior.
Supervises students and is responsible for their welfare, safety, and location at all times, including arrival and dismissal.
Utilizes and implements Functional Communication Training, reinforcement systems, visual systems, error correction strategies, and social skills plans.
Implements skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups as directed by the Special Education Teach. Implements class activities as outlined in class schedules and directed by the Special Education Teacher.
Performs ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by the Special Education Teacher.
